A Somewhat different CNY

Chinese new year. Something some Australians never even heard of. I started off the week thinking this is so going to be one of the most different CNYs for all the wrong reasons.
  1. College starts on the 2nd day of CNY!
  2. No Reunion with cousins, uncles and aunts
  3. The atmosphere over here is nothing compared to back in Msia
The night before CNY, my parents and I had the usual reunion dinner. Only the three of us. Really makes me miss all the CNYs I had back in Msia. It's always when you lose something and only then will you learn the value of it. Be it some privelage, a person or a blessing. So for all of you who used to and are still complaining about the hustle, bustle and troubles of traveling during CNY, try to enjoy it. The warmth of a family, people who truly love you. One day, it will be taken away from you.

The first few days at the new college was certainly an entirly different experience for me. It had plenty ups and downs. The first day of CNY passed being just another normal day for me

On Thursday, My brother came back from Msia. By then I wasnt really thinking alot about CNY but focusing on college.

Then Friday came along. I was somewhat relieved that the weekend was just around the corner. For dinner that night, My family and I decided to go to Chinatown to check things out. My dad was craving for Chinese food and we heard there was going to be a lion and dragon dance. After a short drive, we were there.
Lots o' people there.
Most of them were Asians.
Just the four of us. No relatives.

We waited for half and hour and then:

The show started.
It began with three people dressed in really shinny costume as famous chinese heroes
two of the three of them

The other one. This one has fair skin.

I wonder if this one is indian.
Maybe one of them Hindu gods converted to Budhism

The lion dancing started:

They were controlled by the beating of large Chinese drums and the clinging and clanging of symbols. They ran through the crowd and scared some kids too.

When it was over, the main attraction came on:

The Dragon
It was controlled by about 6 people. To my surprise, Aussies were controlling them. Not Chinese.
It was a fairly small one. Dad was expecting those gigantically long ones.
Hats off to the people controlling it. They were fit!

They ended with more lions and this final pose. Certainly was something different this year. It turned out quite okay. Praise be to the Lord Most High!

Th e BBC Uniform

Okay. A little more about BBC. Started in 1902 with only 4 students. Bought over by the Presbyterian and Methodist School Association (PMSA) ''PMS eh?'' in 1918.

It is very very near the house I'm living in. I'm living with my bro. I just need to walk up the hill and within less than 100 steps, I'm at the entrance.

Went to buy the uniform today and it was a miracle. They had my size! There are very very proud of their school's name. There is like everything BBC. Ties, bags, coats, jackets, specific uniforms for different sports and the hat! I shall not comment about the Hat!

Everything is in green! So environmentally friendly. I feel like an orc from Warcraft.
Green shirt, Long black pants, Tie and a pair of black shoes
This is what I'll be wearing during winter. An additional coat

This is the Hat.
Yes.
Laugh at me while you still can.
I know you are laughing.
so hard right now that you are about to shit your pants.
This is so not me!
I look like a Chinapek!
The hat really does not help the look.
By the way, It is not soft.
It is HARD. very. It can hurt someone.
Now I look like a Chinese mafia.

To The Land Down Under!

After weeks and weeks of prayer, thinking and struggling with my human desires not to leave my family, friends and church behind, I have decided to submit to God's unavoidable call and plan and to go and study in Australia!

Thus, the packing begun. I packed right up until the last hour. It was like packing my whole life away into two bags. How I wish I could throw all my friends inside too.My Gundam army
I had the most fun packing all the Gundams into 3 normal boxes and 1 big long box. I taped them onto the box and as for the long box, i used sponge and layed them layer upon layer.

My mum came with me and my dad, my Ah Mah and Tze Leet was there to send us off. Cousin Daniel and my uncle could not make it to send me off due to the horrible jam.

We flew Air Asia X from the LCCT. My dad kept up his usual tradition of scolding the crap out of the people at the check in counter. This time it was about passports.

The flight was 8 hours. We flew during the night so we could just sleep through the flight. Or so i thought. There was a baby behind us and it could not stop crying the whole flight!! I was tired, irritated and lacked sleep.

We landed in the Woolongatta Airport in Brisbane. The first thing I noticed is the Aussie slang! The first thing the fellow at the immigration said was G'Day mate!. Due to his strong slag, I thought he told me to Go Die Mate.

At the customs, this happened:

Officer: So what do you have in this colorful box?
Me: Gundams
Officer: What? You brought guns? Securi....
Me: Wait. wait wait! NoNo. Plastic toy models.

After the airport, it was an insanely expensive taxi ride to Robina Street trains station. We took the train to Roma Street. It was a 45 minutes ride. Again. I could not sleep because of crying babies.

Then we went to speak to the Head of Senior School of BBC, Dr.Peter Britton. No he aint from Britain. BBC stands for Brisbane Boy's College. Don't worry. I will not turn gay. Then we went for a tour of the college and it is MUCH MUCH bigger than SMKSU. It makes SU look like termites!

I was surprised that it was a Christian-based school. It was Methodist and Presby. There is even a Chapel in the school. There is a compulsory subject called Christian Education. A MUCH better subject than some cheapo subject called Pendidikan Moral!

Aku kena saman! First time thus far! LoL

How would you like to start the day with a summon? Yeap. this is my first traffic summon.

Issued by: MPSJ
Tarikh: 16/1/09
Waktu: 10:21a.m.
No. Kenderaan: WPD31
Warna: Silver
Model Kenderaan: MYV
Tempat Kesalahan: Jalan SS15/8 Subang Jaya
KOD kesalahan: 01
Bayaran Dikenakan: RM 80.00

Kod 01 says: Meletak kenderaan bermotor di tempat bukan letak kereta. In english, CNY is around the corner and MPSJ needs money.

The hanky panky part is, I got out of my car at 10:20 and headed for McD's and when was it issued? 10:21 a.m. Either God wants me to learn something or MPSJ have been stalking my butthole.

As the address stated, I was at ss15. Yih Shan called me the night before and said we would be having brunch at 10 with the college people, catching them at their break time. Fair enough, I went. I picked up Yih Shan and Min Shen and headed for SS15.

I was feeling quite happy already because I out-muscled a van with a Myvi to get in lane to turn into 15 and avoided a crazed indian running across the street all of a sudden (Does life mean nothing to these people?)

I parked at the area directly opposite to McD's and Starbucks. Many other cars were already parked in a row. I started praising God for the awsome luck when i saw the space. All too soon.

So we went to McD's and met up with Jimmy and Zhi Hoe who were already eating with their classmates. Good to see them bonding with their classmates and doing well. A pity that those two were too busy to even introduce the three of us. Feeling like unwatnted intruders, we went to AC.

There we met up with Wyman and chatted while waiting for other familiar faces.

Soon enough we met familiar faces. Shu Lyn Joined us. We also saw those like Cheryl, Dhivya, Eugene, Ming Feng, Sam, Adrian and lastly Jon Lai. It was awsome catching up with them.

Then time came for us to leave and when we were walking towards my car down the road, I noticed the cars along the row had samans so I was expecting one on my car too. The amazing part was, there were two Mercedes among the row of cars and guess where the samans were? Not there! Do those MPSJ people need Ananias to pray over them? Indeed. Malaysia boleh. Apa pun boleh.

Justice for all

ZGMF X-19A Infinite Justice in 1/100 scale Master Grade! I have been waiting for this quite some time that I was quite tempted to buy the normal 1/100HG one. Luckily I waited because this is the best MG kit Bandai have released up to date! Worth every sen.

Took me half a day to complete this as MG gundams have extremely brilliant details and alot of pieces.

Launch

This is quite a solid Gundam. There are no loose pieces. And just like any other MG Gundam, the legs are very very stiff.

The Fatum-01 sub-flighter backpack:
The Infinite Justice is unique because the backpack transforms into a plane.
The details and seals on the wings are amazing

Suprisingly, the balance of this Gundam is very good. It can even stand on the plane which was so much smaller than the Justice.

It can even hold on to the plane. The grip is good and steady too

The Shield is also one of the most impressive I have seen.

There is a boomerang attached to it which can be pulled out and used as a beam saber or flung like a boomerang.

Then there is a pincer-like projectile that can be launched by a bendable string. How sick is that!

When the shield is used as a shield itself, it has a cool shinny blue surface which can be attached.

All the Weapons. One beam rifle. Two beam sabers. One shield. One fighter plane jet pack. One boomerang. Two leg beams and Two wing beams

A close up. Yes this is actually a pink Gundam. A very very cool pink Gundam. The pilot is not a girl though
The cockpit. Again I am not going to paint such a small piece.

The legs itself can have those pink beams attached to em, Making them like beam sabers! (notice the legs)

Two beam sabers! They can combine! This is so Star Wars!

Notice the wings. They too can be fitted with those pink beam-like thingy.

All thgether, there are Seven points which have those pinky beams. Making the oo Justice one of the best and most dangerous close combat Gundams

The rear view with the fighter fully extended.
Front view of it during flight
